Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At Burlington, we stand for equality and the dignity of each person. We embrace the many facets of diversity that strengthen our communities and our company. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and understanding.

OUR INCLUSIVE CULTURE

While we value our diversity, our true focus is on being inclusive – a place where all associates can bring their full selves to work each day. We conduct an annual anonymous survey taken by more than 33,000 associates to continually measure our progress. Our most recent survey results revealed that 91% of our associates “believe Burlington makes it easy for people from diverse backgrounds to fit in and be accepted.” Additionally, we continue to be recognized as a Best Workplace for Diversity and a Best Workplace for Women.

OUR DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION (DEI) COUNCILS

Burlington’s DEI Councils foster collaboration and progress toward our DEI strategic goals. These Councils convene nominated associates dedicated to driving sustainable change throughout our company. Council members share valuable insights and feedback, propose new initiatives, and serve as ambassadors to help amplify the impact and scope of our company’s DEI efforts.

OUR DIVERSITY

Burlington prides itself on being a diverse and welcoming organization. More than 70% of our associates self-identify as people of color, with over 50% in management roles. We are also proud to have associates representing five generational groups.

OUR DIVERSE HERITAGE

We strive to cultivate an inclusive work environment by educating associates on not only the important traditions and celebrations of their diverse peers, but relevant social justice issues, as well. Topics include:  “Race – Let’s Talk About It” panels, an “Understanding Gender Identity” webinar, a Holocaust survivor keynote, and more.  Each month we prominently feature holidays, traditions, and heritage events.
