Milkelley Baptiste

Spelman College

I am Mickelley Baptiste and I am wriyoting to thank you and to let you know that it is truly an honor to know that you would pour into a student like me. I will be sure to pay forward your kindness in the future.

I attend Spelman College, GA. I am a psychology major on the pre-medical track. Despite the COVID-19 virus, I completed my first semester at Spelman with A-grades across the board.

My deep and long-held desire is to become a pediatrician. I began working with the children and youth of my church in 2013. I was a teacher's aide and then became a worship leader and Sunday school teacher interacting with kids of all ages, from pre-K to sixth grade. I love interacting with them. Couple that with my love for the science of the human body, and my future career just revealed itself to me.

With your help, I am at Spelman looking forward to becoming a pediatrician because of the monumental contribution you have made toward my journey.

Kofi Asafe-Adjaye

Johnson C. Smith University

Kofi Asafe-Adjaye is a freshman at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. He plans a career in the criminal justice system, with the goal of becoming a lawyer in the very near future. Kofi was successful academically and athletically in high school and has continued this success into his college journey. He is pursuing a degree in political science because of his love for debating, history, and the behavioral sciences. UNCF awarded a scholarship to Kofi when he needed help the most. But UNCF could not have helped this talented, ambitious young man without the support of loyal donors like you. Kofi sends his sincere thanks and promises to make sure that he will one day pay it forward.

Detravius Brinkley

Claflin University

Detravius Brinkley is a senior at Claflin University, majoring in computer science. He has made the President’s List, Dean’s List, and Honor Roll several times. In 2018, he was Campus Honoree for the South Carolina Student Service Achievement Award. He also had the chance to conduct research at Stanford University in a bioengineering lab. His goal is to earn master's and doctoral degrees in computer science, and to become a researcher in global solutions to poor health behaviors, in order to find better outcomes using holistic health practices. His interest in this discipline has been peaked because of the poor health outcomes he has seen in his family. This talented, ambitious young man would not have his eyes on the lofty goals he has set for himself without the support of donors like you. Your investment in him is paying off.

Caylin Carter

Clark Atlanta University

I am Caylin Carter, a sophomore at Clark Atlanta University, GA. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the UNCF scholarship I have received. This scholarship lifted a huge financial burden off of my family and me and it has given me the opportunity to continue my education without the distraction of worrying about funds to pay for college. I am a Mass Media Arts major with a concentration in Radio, Television, and Film and a minor in History. I am a part of NAACP, Pre-Alumni Council, National Association of Black Journalists, and other organizations here at Clark Atlanta. I am interested in a career in Mass Media Arts because I want to change the narrative about African Americans that is perpetuated in the media. In my future, I would like to become an on-air personality. Thank you for supporting me. I deeply appreciate that you would give generously to UNCF to make sure my fellow students and I receive the financial support we need.
